  • 64 half pecans
  • 11 ounces of caramels for baking/cooking
  • 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Parchment paper or a silicone baking mat

Directions

Step 1: Prepare the Pecans

Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place groups of four pecan halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Each group should resemble a turtle with four legs. This step ensures the pecans are spread out evenly and prepared to support the caramel and chocolate.

Step 2: Melt the Caramel

Put the caramels in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat the caramels in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until completely melted and smooth. With a spoon, place a small amount of melted caramel in the center of each pecan group. Ensure the caramel spreads a bit to hold the pecans together. Let the caramel-covered pecans rest until the caramel hardens, about 10-15 minutes.

Step 3: Melt the Chocolate

While the caramel is hardening, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat the chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth. Use a spoon or a pastry bag to pour or place the melted chocolate over each cluster of caramel and pecans, ensuring the caramel is fully covered. Allow the chocolate-topped candies to sit at room temperature or refrigerate until the chocolate hardens completely.

Step 4: Serve and Store
